WordCamp Polska 2023 started with Contributor Day on May 12. This is a special day during which everyone can contribute to WordPress development. Whether you’re a developer, designer, copywriter, or simply a WordPress enthusiast - everyone has something to offer. The next two days (May 13-14) were the heart of the conference, with presentations, workshops, and mastermind sessions.

One of the most important aspects of WordCamp is the community. Participants have the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and experiences, and build valuable relationships. This informal WordPress community meeting brings together people from all over Poland and beyond, creating a unique atmosphere full of inspiration and possibilities.

#Agenda overview

#Friday, may 12

Contributor Day begins with registration, followed by welcome, team division, and work at tables. The main part of the day is contributing work, interrupted by lunch break. The day ends with a summary and discussion of work results. In the evening, there’s a Before Party.

#Saturday, may 13

We meet at CEK. Throughout the day, presentations focus on various aspects of business, technology, and product development. Presenters include Tomasz Karwatka, Krzysztof Dyszczyk, Ola Gościniak, Łukasz Wilczak, Aleksander Misky, and Izabela Karkocha.

Topics include:

  • Transitioning from a service company to a product company
  • Reflections on the role and direction of artificial intelligence
  • Tips on planning and promoting digital products
  • How to use the subscription model in business
  • The art of completing projects with customer satisfaction
  • How to use WordPress potential to create a profitable business in 28 days

After presentations, there’s an official Middle Party.

We meet again at CEK. Presentations focus on the future and business as well as technology. Presenters include Kasia Aleszczyk, Krzysztof Radzikowski, Marta Domasz, Maciej Kuchnik, Magdalena Paciorek, Maciek Palmowski, Albert Nogala, and Adam Kanigowski.

Topics include:

  • The future of AI and its impact on work
  • Practical use of Gutenberg components in WordPress
  • Considerations on the sense of using the Headless approach
  • Analysis of no/low-code tools and their impact on WordPress’s future
  • Ways to use WordPress without a server
  • Discussion of effectiveness of different project estimation methods
  • Impact of combining WordPress with AI on SEO
  • Discussions on code quality and return on investment

#Workshops

Parallel to the main agenda, workshops run on Saturday and Sunday. Topics include advanced programming techniques, security, testing, and optimization. Workshop presenters include Bartek Jaskulski, Kamil Porembiński, Sebastian Kurzynowski, Marcin Krzemiński, Krystian Wójcik, and Maciek Palmowski.

#Recap

WordCamp Polska 2023 was a conference where I always feel at home. Gliwice has a unique atmosphere, and the conference organizers ensured that everyone felt comfortable there. The presentations were at the highest level. The workshops by Marcin Krzemiński on wp-cli and Maciek Palmowski on Astro were particularly valuable.

The conference was very well organized. The venue was spacious, food selection was great, and the Before and Middle Party were truly unforgettable. Sponsors came through, and their support was visible at every step.
